My favorite radio station, WMSE, 91.7FM or wmse.org, just finished their 2015 calendar! All the photographs in it are mine from the 1970's!
The photograph for August is of Leo Kottke, so Leo is featured today.
I have featured Leo before in Blog #89 but it's nice to look at Leo here again.
Most of these photos are from a show he did at Milwaukee's Performing Arts Center in 1973. He was the opening act for Loggins and Messina that night.
I was part of an interview that was done before the show while Leo was putting his legs up relaxing. His reflection in the mirror and just a little bit of his guitar showing is neat to look at.
So, enjoy a look back at Leo in some of my favorite photographs.
If you need a calendar, that has more than 12, almost gallery quality prints in it just message me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or through the website here. They are $20.00 each.
It would make a nice Christmas present for anyone on your list who loves music!
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

Today's blog, is a revisit of David Bowie.
I did blogs #35 and #36 in 2012 on David Bowie, but I thought it was worth a revisit because of his current show running in Chicago.
"David Bowie Is", is the exhibit organized by London's Victoria and Albert Museum. Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art is the only U.S. stop for this exhibit of over 300 objects and photographs.
The exhibit is only until January 4th and tickets are $25.00. Tickets are limited and are purchased for a specific date and time. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 312-397-4066.
Everyone I talk to who has seen this exhibit loves it and says I must go!
One of my followers sent me a copy of his ticket from the show that I photographed on October 13, 1974. You can see it below. Thank you so much for sending that. Enjoy another look at David Bowie's performance at the Milwaukee Arena.
My exhibit here is open 24/7 and prints can be ordered for Christmas for someone you love!
For the holidays, a limited edition, certified, archival, gallery print 16 X 24 is just $125.00 until January 1st!
Enjoy my little exhibit.

Just found some old negatives of B. B. King at Summerfest in 1972.
What can I say but he is the master of the blues and he is dressed sharp!
Always interesting to look at the old Main Stage at Summerfest in 1972.
Enjoy some old images of a young B. B. King.
Have a great week.

Today's blog takes a look back to Summerfest in 1973 when Blood, Sweat and Tears played a show.
They were a big band with a big percussion and horn section with saxophone, trumpets and more.
David Clayton-Thomas has a great voice and to me, it is the heart of the band's sound.
According to some, David wasn't in the band in 1973! Sure looks like him to me.
The list of musicians that have been in the band both past and present, is HUGE! Since the early days with Al Kooper it is amazing how many people have been part of Blood, Sweat and Tears.
That list has a lot of famous names. Check it out as it is just too big to list here.
Enjoy a look at the band in 1973 and have a great week.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

Summerfest 1973 and Humble Pie was a huge event/concert.
We basically had a riot with people coming over the barbed wire fence in front of the stage and if I remember right, a helicopter was needed for the band to arrive and leave.
My black and white disintegrating film, shows people coming over the front of the stage and arrests being made. After all, I was a photojournalist for a newspaper so I covered it all.
The show was excellent excellent and very, very loud!
The stage I also remember was vibrating so much is was hard to shoot a photo!
Enjoy a look at a legendary night and remember that any photos ordered would be cleaned up a lot. With everyone stealing my photos off the internet, I no longer clean them up before a sale.
Please join me at my Facebook page Rich Zimmermann Photography if you haven't already.
11 X 16 photos are on sale this week for $100.00 from our original $125.00 price for limited edition, certified archival prints.
Have a great week and if you have memories of this show, please share it with us all.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

John Prine played in Milwaukee the other night and I wish I had been there to see the show. He is a brilliant storyteller, songwriter and musician.
It's funny he came to town on a week that I was scanning some old film of his performance here in Milwaukee on December 1, 1972!
We can thank Kris Kristofferson for discovering the mailman from Maywood, Illinois on an open mic night in Chicago many years ago.
John's voice has changed a bit after a battle with throat cancer in the late 90's but he is the same old John Prine.
If you get the chance, go see him play because you won't be disappointed.
Have a great week.
Thanks,
