It finally feels like winter here in Wisconsin! Thursday it was 70F and Friday was warm in the morning but then it changed quickly. Saturday we woke up to snow flurries and a bit of snow on the ground.
Winter is coming and so are the Rich Zimmermann Photography 2017 8 X 11 Rock'n Roll Calendars!!!!!!
For 2017's calendar I went with the birthdays of musicians to pick out each months photo like last year.
The cover is Frank Beard of Z Z Top and his amazing drum kit. Again David Bowie is our January pick because we have so many Bowie lovers, including myself!!
February-Don Everly of the Everly Brothers
March-Rory Gallager
April-Peter Frampton
May-Mick Ronson-From his Ian Hunter tour
June-Jeff Beck-From 1972!!
July-Roger McGuinn of The Byrds
August-Madonna
September-Roger Waters-Pink Floyd
October-Elvin Bishop
November-Joe Walsh
December-Jim Messina-Loggins and Messina 1973
Attached are the photos for a preview for you. No watermarks will be on the calendar prints of course.
I think you will all love it for yourself or for a Christmas gift for someone!
They are $30.00 each and $6.00 for shipping. Again, they are printed by Shutterfly who prints on a heavy stock that makes the prints suitable for framing when the month is over. They really do an awesome job I think and everyone loves them based on the comments I received about the 2016 calendar.
Email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to place your order and we can get you a calendar before Christmas no problem.

This blog is different from blog #58 which is also labeled Loggins and Messina 1974. Blog #58 was about a show at UW Oshkosh and this blog is about a performance that was in September of 1974 at Milwaukee's Performing Arts Center.
Some of these photos were taken from right in front of the stage. Others were taken from my favorite secret spot at the Performing Arts Center, or the PAC as we called it! The PAC was a beautiful performance hall. My secret spot is now presently locked up and you can't take photos from there anymore. It was so cool because you would walk through this door and you had a little spot about ten foot square with a railing. I would sit on the floor usually and photograph the show and then just sit and enjoy the show alone in my little secret spot. There were actually four secret spots with two on each side of the stage at the second and third levels. The sound was a little weird because you were off to the side but the view made up for it.
Loggins and Messina, was a great band and I was very sad when they broke up. They were so good and the whole band had a lot of good energy and sound. I photographed them several times through the years.
Enjoy a look at the band from my secret spots and have a great week.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

This week's blog is hard to do because it's finally nice in Wisconsin and I want to be outside! That means bike riding, fishing and of course, Spring house chores. We have been cleaning the outside of the house and cleaning all of the windows! Hard work, but it's done now and it looks great.
Other than talking about Spring cleaning chores, our blog is about one of the best country rock bands to ever come about. That would be Loggins and Messina, shown here in 1974 at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh. In 1974, they played a lot of college shows and were very popular on FM radio.
Jim Messina, after being in the bands Poco and Buffalo Springfield, was an independent record producer for Columbia Records in 1970 when he met Kenny Loggins. The two recorded some songs in Jimmy's living room in Colorado and Loggins and Messina was born. The teacher/apprentice duo had a great following and Kenny Loggins had to put his solo career on hold because they were so successful. This was a very good thing.
Their debut album, Sittin' In, was released in November of 1971 and five more albums would be released before Kenny Loggins went on his own to become a solo act.
They have done a few tours since the old days. One in 2005 and another in 2009 and I missed them both unfortunately!
Enjoy the photos and if you would like a copy for your walls at home or office, an 8 X 10 limited edition print is on sale this week for $50.00.
Have a great week and don't do too many Spring chores!
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann
