Summer is in full swing now and wow there is a lot going on!! Been so busy I haven't had enough time to catch up from photographing and work! I retire from work soon though so then I will have time to catch up!!!!
Enjoy a look at the IMSA weekend at Road America where the Mazda and Acura battle was something to witness. There was not one caution flag and it was a very fast race.
Thanks,

Time to change your Rich Zimmermann Photography calendar. It's October already!! I better get going on the 2019 version, right? Have a few ideas going on for that and it will be available soon.
This blog has gotten delayed a few times because of some great rock'n roll commitments and blogs.
So, here is the IMSA race at Road America from August 4th and 5th, 2018.
The race was a rough one from the start. Robert Alon was on pole in the P1 class with Colin Braun and John Bennett getting the win due to fuel saving. The car ran out of fuel on the victory lap.
In GT Lemans, the Chip Ganassi Ford GT of Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe won with a battered up car.
The GT category was won by Patrick Long and Christina Nielsen in a Porsche.
My Acura people had some good racing but couldn't get it done.
Enjoy a look at some beautiful but battered cars.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

Last weekend was a busy and fun weekend at Road America with some crazy weather!
Friday it poured and looked like rain the whole weekend.
Sunday's race was awesome as Pipo Deroni and his teammates in the Nissan Tequila Patron car won! Pipo did the win with an amazing restart of the race with about half an hour left.
Congrats to James French who clinched his championship in the PC category at his home track!
Thanks to the Final Inspection show at 105.7fm and check out the guy with the Michelin Bibendum mascot!
Enjoy a look at some of the 1400 photos I took!
I was on the starters stand for the start of Sunday's race and the flyover with the planes looks awesome with the contrasting, rainy sky!

With so many photos of the 1991 IMSA race weekend in my catalog, we need to look at a few more!
Instead of looking at them as race cars though, look at them as pieces of art.
The artwork on these cars is amazing. That is until they crash and end up as broken pieces in the back of a pickup truck, as we see with one of the Jaguars in my very last photo here!
The canvas of the bodywork with all of the wings and winglets must be difficult to paint.
So today, look at these cars in a different way, and enjoy the artwork.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

This is my 25th blog today!! Time goes by quickly. Today, we have our first regular season Packer game of the year against the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field.
The attached photographs include a couple from 1989 when a Chicago Bear football great named Walter Payton was racing sport cars at Road America in Elkhart Lake. I remember Walter being very nice and really having fun driving his car. If he was still with us, who knows what he could have accomplished in racing too. He was one of the best in football even though he was a Chicago Bear!!
This past week we all found out that the American LeMans series and the Daytona Prototype Series will merge in 2014. My hope is that we have some pretty race cars to watch because I never liked the look of the Daytona Prototype cars until this past year. The new Corvettes looked good and fast but the ALMS cars really are more pleasing to my eyes.
Maybe Dan Gurney shown here on his motorcycle can help design some nice new cars.
Enjoy the football today and Go Packers!!
