Hope everyone watched the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony last night. A few of my photos of Roxy Music were used from a 1975 show in Milwaukee! They are a great band and they have that clear electric violin! I believe it was made of fiberglass or plexiglass.

Today we look at some reworked images of mine of ELP, otherwise known as Emerson, Lake and Palmer. These photos are from a show in Chicago in 1973. I was 19 working for the Bugle American newspaper here in Milwaukee and going to college. Those were good times.

Security in the old days was something to behold but people behaved back then most of the time. Notice how the crowd is leaning on the stage! Don't see that anymore for a big act and ELP was huge then.

I couldn't get very close to the band and wandered about photographing from where I could.

The band had an orchestra with a conductor. Don't see that much.

Very interesting looking at Keith Emerson's keyboard setup. Look at the size of his HUGE synthesizer full of cables and a oscillator screen!! Crazy cool and now it's the size of my desk!

Recently, I discovered a few sleeves of negatives in the closet that I didn't know existed! This blog is about one of those negative sleeves.

Carl Palmer, of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, had one of those massive drum kits, long before anyone else. Tiny little cymbals, and all kinds of percussion toys surround him. It's a very impressive drum set and he used everything, from what I recall.

Also, you can see that the band had an orchestra with them, including a conductor!

About a month ago, I was contacted by a school teacher on the east coast about blog number 125. That blog was about Emerson, Lake and Palmer in 1973.

This school teacher told me about how nice Carl Palmer, the drummer, was and that he visited their school and chatted with the class. So, even though I only have four photos here, I send this blog out to him and his class. Hope you guys enjoy a better look at Carl Palmer's drum kit.

Today's blog is about the band Emerson, Lake and Palmer. These photographs are from a show I covered for the Bugle American on December 4, 1973 at the Chicago International Amphitheater.

As I look at my records, it was a busy week for me back then. On the following evening, I was in Madison, Wisconsin for The Beach Boys and The New Riders of the Purple Sage.

In 1973, there was a war among rock'n'roll fans as to who was the best rock keyboard player. Was it Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer or was it Rick Wakeman of the band Yes? I was always a Keith Emerson fan, even to this day.

I heard of Greg Lake playing on a cruise ship a while back! Interesting what old rockers do these days. I haven't heard much about Keith Emerson other than that he is a licensed jet airplane pilot! Carl Palmer was a terrific drummer and I hope he is still playing somewhere.

The photographs here show Keith Emerson's massive keyboards! Today of course everything is smaller but the synthesizers he used were huge and full of lots of cables. It's kind of cool stuff!
