This past weekend was the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona for IMSA. It was the first race of the year.
I was hoping that Felipe Nasr and his Porsche Team Penske Motorsports team would win again like last year. And they did for the third year in a row! Congratulations Felipe!
He started IMSA racing in 2018 with Action Express Racing/Whelen Engineering Racings Cadillac. Prior years were in Formula 1 for 3 years and GP2 and Formula 3 before that.
I first got to know Felipe when he raced with fellow Brazilian Pipo Derani in a Cadillac for Action Express Motorsports. He took a championship and a win at Road America in 2021.
In 2024 another championship with a great win at Road America again in the Porsche Penske Motorsports car.
My being an old BASS tournament fisherman and finding out that Felipe was an avid fisherman we've talked a bit through the years.
A photo of mine was in the Action Express Racing simulator room. So now I have to get one in the Porsche Penske Motorsports room. Work in progress there! I wish Felipe a lot of luck this year and in the future.
Enjoy some photos of Felipe through the years.
Thanks,

Let the racing season begin folks with the 24 hours of Daytona where it was snowing the other day! And rain of course because that is IMSA at Daytona and Road America.
The 24 Hours of Daytona never disappoints as this years was a wild ride!
I did not make it to Daytona this year but watched it of course since I'm dealing with some health issues.
Checkout some of the IMSA cars from Road America last year in 2024.
AND Felipe Nazr and Team Penske win again!!! Congratulations my fishing buddy!!!!
Thanks,

On the weekend of August 4th the IMSA teams came to Road America for some great racing.
The race had the Felipe Albuquerqe and Ricky Taylor WTR Acura on pole position and the Team Penske Porsches were close by. Friend Pipo Derani and his Action Express Cadillac with Jack Aitken were right up there as always during the race. Notice the back of Pipo Derani's helmet with the new addition to the family footprints!
The Covettes had a tough race with one of them getting punted off in turn five by the new Mustang GT3 at the second start.
In the end the Team Penske Porches finished first with Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet and second with Filipe Nasr and Dane Cameron.
Beautiful race day with beautiful race cars.
Enjoy and I'll let the photos do the talking!

The IMSA races came to Road America for their annual visit on August 5-7, along with the usual rain.
It was great to see Robert Wikins racing again and Ryan Eversley racing in two different series during the weekend.
The Porsche Cup raced in the most rain but the big IMSA Sunday race was a race from lap one with a bit of rain thrown in.
Wayne Taylor Racing in their DPI Cadillac took the pole position for the Sunday race but lost the lead a few times. In the final laps with a pass on the grass, they got the win for Ricky Taylor and Philipe Albuquerque!
Fun weekend with a VERY hot Saturday of racing with the temperature reaching 92 degrees.
Enjoy a look at some of the fun and one of the last looks at the DPI cars as they are now. All the cars next year will be new.
The new Cadillacs and Acuras look fast and beautiful. Can't wait to see the final look of the cars.
Thanks,

In 2007 the Indy Car racing world was very divided. We had the Indy Racing League (IRL), formed by Tony George in 2003 with his Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the helm. We also had the Champ Car World Series.
From 2003 through 2007 we had the IRL and Champ Car as two separate series. It was a mess and mistake by Tony George that Indy Car is just now recovering from. In 2008 it became one series again called Indy Car as it still is today.
I was photographing the IRL at the Milwaukee Mile and the Champ Cars at Road America each year for four years.
On August 12, 2007, the Generac Champ Car Grand Prix at Road America was held. Race driver Sebastien Bourdais won the race and end up winning his fourth straight championship at the end of the year. Seabass, as we call him, was fast everywhere then and still is now.
Dan Clarke finished second and a very young Graham Rahal finished third.
All of the Champ Car race cars were beautiful and fast looking with great paint jobs.
Enjoy a look at the guys and a young Katherine Legge racing around beautiful Road America.
