I've had the privilege to photograph a lot of different things in my life and I never take it for granted.
This year at Gathering on the Green I photographed Rise and Shine In The Park on Sunday July 16th at Mequon Rotary Park. Wisconsin's Frankie Moscato and the national act ,Cain, also performed.
That was a unique experience like I've never witnessed, and was good to see people having fun with religion and music together. There was also a live painting being done as the show was going on for charity.
Frankie Moscato is a young American Idol contestant. The band Cain is a brother with his two sisters performing. It was great music and fun on a really windy day. Frankie lost her hat at the beginning of the first song and I even retrieved it for her! You can see it on top of the piano as she didn't wear it for the rest of the set.
Saturday night July 15th was the rock night with the bands Starship featuring old friend Mickey Thomas and Ann Wilson from the band Heart. Guitars for Vets, contests and raffles were also going on.
I've known Mickey Thomas since his days with Elvin Bishop in 1977 at Milwaukee's Summerfest and again in 1979. I photographed a meet and greet with Mickey and Starship singer Cian Coey. We talked a bunch before the show about the old days. Included here is a meet and greet photo with me in it!!
Mickey is probably most famous for his song "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" from the Elvin Bishop days and he ended his show dedicating the song to me!! Very cool and appreciated Mickey!
Ann Wilson from Heart played after Starship and it was good to hear some old tunes and a few new ones.
Guitars for Vets opened up the night with a nice set.
WAMI and Guitars for Vets have been around for a few years and it was cool to see veterans having fun! Plus, they are great musicians doing it all for a very worthy cause.
Enjoy a look at a fun filled weekend for me!
Thanks,

The weekend of July 9 and 10 was a busy one for me! I photographed two concerts at Gathering On the Green and vintage racing at The Milwaukee Mile.
Friday and Saturday it was the vintage Miller Indy Cars with the Vintage Indy Reserve cars at the Milwaukee Mile. Then at night, it was country music on Friday with Trace Adkins with Matt Wynn opening the show for Gathering On The Green in Mequon, WI.
Saturday night was the band 52nd Street opening for Cheap Trick.
A grand total of a TON of photos and editing is what that means! Yes, it was fun but I didn't touch a camera or computer on Sunday!! Not a lot of sleep or rest Friday or Saturday. Time with my wonderful wife and relax on Sunday. Began the big editing job on Monday and it took a few days.
Have a look at Matt Wynn and Trace Adkins from a great show Friday night for Gathering On The Green at Rotary Park in Mequon. It's a beautiful outdoor venue. Check them out for future shows and next year's big weekend I'm sure will be awesome as usual.
What Gathering On The Green does for the community here in Mequon, WI and the area is great! They even had a raffle for a Fender Squire guitar autographed by Trace Adkins!! Please support them with their continuing shows and projects.
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

Wow!! I need more time in life and a minion to help me out! I'm a busy photographer in addition to regular life stuff. It's all good though.
This past weekend was Gathering On The Green in Mequon. Rob Kos and his crew do such a great job of putting this together.
Friday night was Michael McDonald and then Kenny Loggins!! During each of their sets, one came out to play with the other which made for a great show.
Saturday, you had to be a young one to know who Daya was but check her out! She's very good and I was impressed with the young girl!!!
Enjoy and I have to get back to editing this fun weekend! Here is a bit of it with more to come.
Thanks,

On February 23, 2017 I had the pleasure of photographing John Oates, the Oates of Hall and Oates!
This was a show presented by Gathering On The Green in Mequon, Wisconsin. It's a terrific organization that brings some really good shows to town.
John was promoting his new book coming out April 4th called "John Oates Change of Seasons".
After an introduction and interview with Rob Koz, he played a few acoustic numbers and then brought out three other very talented musicians from Nashville.
Playing his Martin guitar all night was a real treat for anyone who was there.
I also had the opportunity to use a Sony Alpha camera that night, thanks to Jeff Dobbs at Mike Crivello's Camera store. This camera is a low light wonder! More photos are in the John Oates folder of my Rock Category on the website.
Enjoy a look at that evening and get ready for Hall and Oates and Tears for Fears touring this year!!
Thanks,
Rich Zimmermann

Today I have Part 2 for you of the Gathering on the Green concert featuring Huey Lewis and the News that was on July 15th.
I described the show last week so here are the photos that I didn't include with Part 1 last week.
I just remembered that you should all come to one or all of the 4 performances that Bill Camplin and friends are doing this coming weekend. Check out Bill Camplin's website or Cafe Carpe in Fort Atkinson for more information.
Bill Camplin and his band Woodbine are with some other great musicians for these shows. Fabulous music here, not to be missed!!!
Thanks and see you at one of those shows hopefully.

It's already August 1st and I can't believe how fast the summer is going by. Maybe it's the weird weather that has made it fly by. School starts in a month boys and girls so get your backpacks ready!
There have been a lot of good shows and good racing this summer. The Gathering On The Green was one of the good shows that happened in Mequon, Wisconsin on July 15 on a beautiful night.
Zach Pietrini performed as a duo instead of his usual group and opened the show for Huey Lewis and the News.
I have many pictures of this event so this will be part 1 and next week's blog will be part 2 on Huey Lewis and the News.
Enjoy a look at a nice evening.
Thanks,
